Our Story
Ocean State & Cleantech proudly stands as a testament to three generations of commitment, innovation, and family values. Our story begins with our family’s patriarch, John Agostini, who journeyed from Italy to Pawtucket, Rhode Island with a dream to build a better life for his family. Settling in the heart of New England, John laid the foundation for what would eventually become our thriving business.
Founding Years: Building on Tradition
In 1967, John’s son, George Agostini, found himself at the helm of his family’s construction company. Faced with business challenges, and with two small children on the way, George made a bold decision to diversify the business by venturing into commercial cleaning. Equipped with determination and a few essential tools, he embarked on a journey that would shape the future of Ocean State & Cleantech.
With grit and perseverance, George worked days in the construction business and nights alongside his cleaning crews to deliver impeccable cleaning services at reasonable prices to retail stores. His reputation for excellence spread, leading to contracts with larger commercial spaces, including office buildings and private schools.
Passing the Torch: Growth and Expansion
In 1983, George welcomed the next generation into the fold as his son, David Agostini, joined the company. Armed with a degree in Business Management, David brought fresh perspectives and a relentless commitment to customer satisfaction. Under his leadership, Ocean State flourished, expanding its clientele to over 600 accounts across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
In 1995, recognizing a need for innovation in the industry and wanting to provide opportunity for Ocean State’s most dedicated employees, David launched the Cleantech Service Inc. franchise division. Through state-of-the-art equipment and comprehensive training programs, Cleantech Services Inc. has enabled countless individuals to experience the pride that comes with owning a successful business. Cleantech’s franchisees are true partners who help us better serve our client’s needs.
